The just woman, though she die early, shall be at rest,
for the age that is honorable comes not with the passing of time,
nor can it be measured in terms of years.
Having become perfect in a short while,
she reached the fullness of a long career;
for her soul was pleasing to the Lord,
And she who pleased God was loved.

Those of you who were with us last year know that Jen and Alison sang this at mass as we prepared to lay Erin to rest. How can it be a year...
Now it's up to you...
Yes, I have been changed for the better.
Because I knew you
I have been changed for good.
Peace, my sweet girl.
Oh, how I love that scripture. It could be said of so many lovely ones...

Beautiful, beautiful girl! I woke up this morning thinking of Erin, how precious she was to you and how much you've lost...how much we've all lost, losing our girls, our treasures.
ReplyDeleteToday there will be candlelight dancing in my kitchen in honor of your beautiful and sweet Erin.

We just came from Mass. I'm remebering how beautiful the Church looked the day of her funeral with her snowflakes hanging from the trees, how fantastic the music was, how the neighborhood trees were tied with white ribbons and all the people who filled the church with love & compassion. It was a beautiful Mass for a beautiful young woman. Peace & love to all of you.

Maybe the most sacred function of memory is just that:to render the distinction between past, present and future ultimately meaningless: to enable us at some level of our being to inhabit that same eternity which it is said that God himself inhabits.

Much love to all of you, Pott's family. I really wish I could have met Erin in person, but through this and through Sarah, I'm so lucky to have known her how I do...

ReplyDeleteI wasn't familiar with winter song and looked up the lyrics. They're beautiful... sad.
ReplyDelete"December never felt so wrong
Cause you're not where you belong
Inside my arms."
I watched two videos on YouTube, and while they're distinctly different from one another, I liked them both.
